Sean Nordaby
Special Operations Officer
Battalion Chief Nordaby has been serving the Orangeburg County Fire District since 2022 and has been in the fire service since 2006. He started as a volunteer in New Jersey, then in 2013 made the move to South Carolina where he worked in The City of Goose Creek Fire Department and then The City of North Charleston Fire Department, where he obtained the rank of Engineer.
In his role as the Chief of Special Operations, his responsibilities include:
The management and oversight of all specialty teams including technical rescue, marine, bomb, dive, or hazardous materials teams
Responding to technical rescue, USAR, marine, and hazardous materials assignments as required
Organizes or conducts appropriate testing, repair, replacement, or removal from service of all Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) throughout the County of Orangeburg Fire District
Assists in the management of technological advancements throughout the County to improve strategic planning and response throughout the County Fire District
Operates as the FSO Duty Officer during assigned weeks for response support and fire investigations
Chief Nordaby is a certified Firefighter 2, Fire Officer, Fire Service Instructor, NREMT, IFSAC pump operator, IAAI Fire Investigator, as well as holds certifications in technical rescue, confined space, and Scott’s SCBA repair technician course.
Chief Nordaby has two children, and they reside in the Town of Holly Hill.
